Opuntia leucotricha is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). Thespecific epithet leucotricha means '(Latin leucotrichus) white-haired, -bristled'. Common names are "Duraznillo Blanco", "Nopal Blanco", "Nopal Colorado" and "Nopal Duraznillo".

Opuntia leucotricha grows tree-shaped, is richly branched with a large crown and reaches heights of 3 to 5 meters. A conspicuous trunk is formed, which is covered with bristles up to 8 centimeters long. The downy, elongated to circular shoot sections are 15 to 30 centimeters long. The numerous small areoles are up to 1 centimeter apart. The yellow glochids are located in the upper parts of the areoles. One to three, flexible and bristle-like, whitish thorns appear from the lower parts of the areoles . The thorns are up to 3 inches long. One thorn is much longer than the rest.
The yellow flowers reach a length of 4 to 5 centimeters. The spherical, white to purple-colored fruits are 4 to 6 centimeters long.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Opuntia leucotricha is widespread in the Mexican states of San Luis Potosí , Zacatecas , Durango , Guanajuato , Querétaro , Hidalgo and Jalisco on the Altiplano .
The first description was in 1828 by Augustin-Pyrame de Candolle .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered. The development of the populations is considered stable.
