Orest Alexandrovich Jewlachow
Orest Alexandrovich Jewlachow ( Russian Орест Александрович Евлахов , scientific. Transliteration Orest Aleksandrovič Evlachov ; born January 4 . Jul / 17th January 1912 greg. In Warsaw , Congress Poland ; † 15. December 1973 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) was a Russian composer and pedagogue .
Life
Jewlachow studied with Pyotr Ryazanov and until 1941 with Dmitri Shostakovich at the Leningrad Conservatory . In 1947 he became a lecturer there, and then in 1963 professor of composition. He was considered a classic of the Leningrad School and composed, among other things, three symphonies, symphonic suites, concerts, ballets, chamber, theater and film music. He became known through the ballad The Night Patrol , which - like Shostakovich's 7th Symphony - was created during the siege of Leningrad . His students included composers such as Boris Tishchenko , Sergei Slonimski , Andrei Petrow , Valeri Gawrillin , Isaak Schwarz and German Okunew .
