Orien Vernon
Orien Vinton Vernon (born September 7, 1874 in McLouth , Kansas , † June 24, 1951 in Westland , Michigan ) was an American tennis player .
biography
Vernon is the son of John Edgerton Vernon and Elizabeth Whaley Vernon. Most of the time he lived in Kansas City . He was married to Katherine Lilley, with whom he had two children. He participated in the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis in the tennis competition. In the singles he did not get past the second round after a bye at the start, where he was defeated by Alphonzo Bell . He competed in doubles with Wilfred Blatherwick . The two were defeated by the eventual Olympic champions Edgar Leonard and Beals Wright in two short sets.
He died in Michigan in 1951.
