Oro Solido

Oro Solido is a group of Dominican merengue musicians . They became a household name in the merengue style, some of their titles were used in film music, and since 1995 the band's music has been played very often on tropical music radio stations.

Career

Oro Solido is based in New York City . The group was founded in 1994 by Raúl Acosta, known as "El Presidente". In the same year her debut album "Oro Solido" was released. Hits like “Ta Cache”, “La Tanguita Roja”, “Maria se Fue”, “El Baile del Beeper”, “Una Nalgadita” and “La Morena” followed, which brought the group great success. Oro Solido developed into the largest group in Latin music , established itself on the English-speaking music market and won numerous prizes such as Premio Estrella, Premio ACE and Premio Lo Nuestro. Oro Solido appears regularly on Hispanic television channels, as well as on Fox Five New York and the Jerry Lewis Telethon Show. They have performed five times at Madison Square Garden and other popular venues such as the Universal City Amphitheater in Los Angeles , El Zócalo de Mexico, Estadio Modelo de Ecuador, El Monumento in the Dominican Republic, and the Meadowlands in New Jersey . They have appeared with artists such as 50 Cent , LeAnn Rimes , Celia Cruz , Marc Anthony , Fat Joe , Johnny Ventura , Wilfrido Vargas , Tito Puente , El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico and The Temptations . Oro Solido is active in numerous social projects such as World Vision , March of Dimes , The Wheelchair Foundation, Health Plus, Verizon and the New York Commission of Domestic Violence. They have contracts with the Supercanal Caribe and have launched their own Oro Sólido Long Distance Phone Card.

Raul Acosta

Raúl Acosta (born September 8, 1971 in Santo Domingo , Dominican Republic ) comes from his family of musicians. Raúl played together with his brothers Iván and Rafael in the group "Los Sobrinos Del Rey", which was a Dominican version of the band Jackson 5 . The three brothers had success with their music and got into various TV shows, such as "Amarillis con los Niños". In 1980 the Acosta family emigrated to the USA . With no knowledge of English, Raúl moved to Jersey City and later to Union City , where the Hispanic American population was more active. After graduating from high school, Raúl Acosta worked in music and sound engineering at the local music store Kennedy's Music World.
