Schultzii Orobanche a plant is art from the genus of orobanche ( Orobanche ) in the family of broomrape plants (Orobanchaceae).
description
Orobanche schultzii is a parasitic plant whose stems are 10 to 60 cm high and 0.4 to 0.8 cm wide. At the base they are swollen, they can be simple or branched and have glandular hairs. The leaves appear in large numbers are 5 to 10 mm long and ovate to lanceolate.
The inflorescences are about 7 cm high and 3 to 4 cm wide, dense in the lower part, loosely built above and covered with glandular hair. The bracts are 8 to 12 mm long and lanceolate, the prophylls are linear-lanceolate and are slightly shorter than the calyx . Most of the flowers have a short stalk. The calyx is 8 to 12 mm long and set with calyx teeth that are linear-lanceolate, have an awl-shaped tip and are two to three times as long as the calyx tube. The crown is 16 to 21 mm long, covered with glandular hairs, protruding upwards, tubular to narrowly bell-shaped and almost straight. At the base it is colored white, at the tips blue to purple. The lobes of the lower lip are elliptical and pointed to pointed. The stamens are hairless or almost hairless and set about 4 to 5 mm above the crown base. The anthers are hairy. The scar is white.
The fruit is a capsule with a length of 7 to 8 mm.
Occurrence and locations
The species is common in the Mediterranean region. It parasitizes on a variety of herbaceous plants, but mostly on umbellifers (Apiaceae). Its distribution area includes Portugal, Spain, Italy, Malta, Greece, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Israel.
