Oser Kokesch

Oser Kokesch (* July 28, 1859 in Brody / Galicia; † October 21, 1905 in Vienna ) was a Zionist politician and lawyer in Vienna ("Court and Judicial Advocat in Vienna, I., Singerstrasse 25", later: Tuchlauben No. 17), one of the first members (not co-founder) of the Kadimah (student union) , in 1890 co-founder of the Viennese Admath Jeschurun (Hebrew Land of Israel), the first Viennese Zionist association.

He became one of the first and most loyal supporters and collaborators of Theodor Herzl , helped to prepare the first Zionist congress on his behalf and was elected to the narrower action committee (treasurer / secretary; he was practically head of the Vienna congress office) and belonged to him until his Deaths (i.e. until the 7th Congress, Basel). In July 1899 he was one of the "Governors" of the Jewish Colonial Bank ( Jewish Colonial Trust ).

He was an opponent of the British Uganda program .
