history

Osječak experienced two major waves of emigration, which caused changes in the age structure. The first wave of emigration took place in the early 1970s, when the younger generation in particular emigrated to Germany, Austria and Switzerland for economic reasons.

The second wave of emigration followed when Osječak reached the Bosnian War on April 21, 1992 . Most of the villagers fled to Croatia and usually settled there. The village church, built in 1990, was completely destroyed in the war in 1992 and was never rebuilt. Through the Treaty of Dayton, Osječak came to the new entity Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Federacija Bosne i Hercegovine) in 1995 . At that time the village was completely destroyed and uninhabitable.

Most of Osječak's houses have now been rebuilt, but most of the houses are empty. The village is almost exclusively inhabited by pensioners.
