Oskar Burkert

Oskar Burkert (born May 24, 1951 in Drensteinfurt ) is a German politician and was a member of the state parliament for the CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia from 2005 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2017. Before that, he was mayor of the city of Hamm .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1971, he studied mechanical engineering in Paderborn and graduated in 1978 with a degree in engineering. He worked in the mining supply industry from 1979 to 1986 and in the mineral oil industry from 1987 to 2003.

Party and public office

He has been a member of the CDU since 1969. From 1981 to 1992 he was chairman of the Heessen district association of the CDU. From 1987 to 1991 he was deputy chairman of the Hamm district association of the CDU, and since 1991 chairman. Since 1987 he has been a member of the board of the Ruhr district association of the CDU. Since 2000 he has been chairman of the CDU's local association in Heessen.

From 1975 to 1989 he was a member of the Heessen district council, from 1979 to 1989 as CDU parliamentary group leader. Since 1989 he has been a member of the City Council of Hamm. From 1999 to 2004 was a member of the Ruhr Area Municipal Association. Since 2004 he has been a member of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe . From 2004 to 2005 he was a mayor of the city of Hamm. In the 2005 state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia , he was able to win constituency 118 in Hamm as a direct candidate and thus entered the state parliament for the first time. In the new election in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012, he came back to the Düsseldorf state parliament via the CDU list. In the state elections in 2017 , he no longer stood as a candidate and thus resigned from parliament.
