Oskar Hamm

Oskar Hamm (born June 24, 1839 in Ratingen ; † October 27, 1920 in Bonn ) was a German lawyer , senior realm attorney and president of the Cologne Higher Regional Court .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Oskar Hamm first studied Catholic theology in Bonn , but then turned to studying law in Heidelberg and at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . In 1865 he passed the assessor examination and was appointed regional court assessor in Remscheid and in 1868 justice of the peace there. In 1866 he took part in the German-Austrian War and in 1870/71 in the Franco-German War as a lieutenant in the Landwehr . In 1871, Hamm was made state procurator at the Düsseldorf Regional Courtand was able to gain initial experience as a public prosecutor . Eight years later, he was appointed to the higher regional court counselor at the higher regional court in Cologne and on July 1, 1881, he was appointed senior public prosecutor for Cologne . In 1884 King Wilhelm I appointed Oskar Hamm a member of the Prussian State Council .

He was appointed to the office of senior realm attorney on January 13, 1896. There he “turned his interest primarily to administrative tasks, matters of first instance, disciplinary and court of honor matters, and meeting services. In many cases, he also took a direct part in the work of the Reich lawyer, often personally participating in the session services. ”In May 1899, Hamm returned to the Cologne Higher Regional Court, where he remained president until March 31, 1905. As a Prussian crown syndic , he was also a born member of the Prussian manor house for life.

He was the father of William Greven .
