Oskar Knapp

Oskar Knapp (born February 23, 1898 in Kirberg ; † June 6, 1967 there ) was a German farmer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Knapp was born as the son of a farmer and grain distillery owner. After attending elementary school, he completed an agricultural training course, during which he also learned the distillery trade. He then worked in his father's company. From 1916 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . In 1919 he left the Reichswehr .

After attending specialist courses in agriculture and distillery at the farmer's college, Knapp took over his parents' farm. From 1924 to 1933 he was chairman of the young farmers' union. From 1938 he was chairman of the board of a dairy cooperative in Dauborn .

In 1946, Knapp became CEO of the Volksbank in Kirberg. In the same year he was a co-founder of the Hessian farmers' association . In 1950 he traveled to the United States to study agricultural organization and administration.

MP

Since 1952, Knapp had been a member of the Limburg district council . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957. He was drawn into parliament via the state list of the CDU Hessen . From 1958 to 1962 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Public offices

From 1945 to 1964, Knapp was honorary mayor of the Kirberg community.
