Oskari Korpikari (born April 5, 1984 in Oulu ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player .

Career

Oskari Korpikari already played in the junior division for Kärpät Oulu , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2002/03 season . Following his rookie season , Korpikari was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 in the seventh round as a total of 217th player by the Montreal Canadiens , for which he never played. Since his debut, the defender with Kärpät has won the championship title in the SM-liiga four times in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, was runner-up in 2003 and 2009 and third in 2006. In addition, he reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup twice with Kärpät in 2005 and 2006 , with the two Russian representatives HK Awangard Omsk and HK Dynamo Moscow being defeated.

In 2010 he moved within the SM-liiga to the Espoo Blues , with whom he became Finnish runner-up in 2011. In 2012 he changed clubs again when the Pelicans from Lahti signed him. For the Pelicans he completed over 100 Liiga games in which he collected 19 points scorer.

At the end of January 2016, Korpikari, who had been under contract with Jokerit since April 2014 , had to end his career due to a heart disease.

International

For Finland Korpikari took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 2004 , where he won the bronze medal with his team.
