East Aegean Islands

Islands of the North Aegean

Under the term East Aegean Islands , some Greek islands in the eastern Aegean Sea off the nearby northwest coast of Turkey are summarized in German. Administratively they belong to the North Aegean region . The islands to the south of the Samos prefecture are geographically usually included in the Southern Sporades , while the islands north of Lesbos in the prefecture of the same name are not counted among the East Aegean Islands.

• the island of Lesbos and the surrounding smaller islets
• the islands in the Chios regional unit , including
  • Chios
  • the Inousses archipelago
  • Psara , Andipsara and surrounding small islands
• the islands of the prefecture of Samos and Ikaria, including
  • the island of Samos and surrounding smaller islets, including Samiopoula
  • the Fourni archipelago with Thymena
  • the island of Ikaria and surrounding small islets
