Natural allocation

The Osterwick hill country is naturally allocated as follows:

Height structure

The Osterwicker hill country reached its highest level with 128.4  m near the southeastern interface to the tree mountains , southeast Easter Wicks . from there the ridge to the north decreases very gradually and falls well below 100  m in the north .

In the southwest, southeast of Holtwick , 115.4  m are reached, in the extreme northeast the double crest of the Ramsberg west of Schöppingen reaches another 92.1  m .

Flowing waters

The Osterwick hill country drains completely to the IJsselmeer , almost exclusively via the Vechte . The catchment area of the Dinkel , which rises in the southwest and flanked the hill country west in a south-north direction, takes up the largest share.

The streams that flow directly to the hill country to the west, to the Schöppinger ridge , separating the upper reaches of the Vechte, remain quite short. In the south, Varlarer Mühlenbach and Felsbach also flow to the Berkel .
