The Ostheimer Zeitung is a local newspaper appearing in Ostheim in front of the Rhön .

With 790 copies sold in the fourth quarter of 2011 - 740 of them by subscription  - it is the smallest German regional daily newspaper . The third generation of the publisher and editor-in-chief since 1981 is Volker Gunzenheimer (* 1946), a trained typesetter and owner of a stationery shop. He is supported by his wife Hannelore, two children and his nephew as well as two freelancers. In 1910, his grandfather Reinhold Werner took over the newspaper from the founder, which at that time only appeared three times a week, and later handed it over to his father Herrmann Gunzenheimer .

The local newspaper still appears on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and is mainly distributed in Ostheim, Sondheim vor der Rhön and Willmars and the associated districts. The Ostheimer Zeitung is a lunchtime newspaper . The six local pages will be produced in black and white on the day of publication from 6:30 a.m., the supraregional part will be bought in by the editorial team of Mediengruppe Oberfranken in Bamberg . From 9 a.m., the entire issue will be delivered by twelve couriers.
