Life

Oswald Kohut was born to Adolph Kohut and his wife Elisabeth Kohut-Mannstein . He studied literature and art history in Rostock , Bonn and Berlin . After completing his studies, in 1897 he was editor of the “Potsdamer Intellektiven-Blatt”. Official publication organ of the authorities for Potsdam and the surrounding districts ”, then with the“ Berliner Lokalanzeiger ”and the Berliner Tageblatt . From 1899 to 1921 he was editor-in-chief and owner of the newspaper "Grunewald-Echo". From 1904 to 1918 he was editor of the newspaperThe courtly and stately cuisine. Journal for the interests of high and high rulers as well as their officials and employees in all technical and administrative matters relating to the kitchen . and from 1918 to 1921 the newspaper Die Herrschaftliche Küche. The Reichsschriftleitergesetz (Reichsschriftleitergesetz) of October 4, 1933 stipulated in Section 5 “Editor can only be”: Paragraph 3 “is of Aryan descent and is not married to a person of non-Aryan descent”. With that he was banned from working. In 1936 the company was forcibly deleted. In 1943, in the last address book before the end of the war, he lived in Berlin-Schöneberg, Grunewaldstrasse 55.

His son was Oswald Adolph Kohut .
