The OnePlus 2 (also OnePlus Two ; abbreviated OP2 ) is a smartphone manufactured by OnePlus . It was introduced on July 28, 2015 as the successor to the OnePlus One . OnePlus gave the opportunity to watch the performance with a VR headset via an app published in parallel . In June 2016, the successor model OnePlus 3 was presented.
distribution
The device can only be purchased through the company's website. The mobile phone has been available without an invite since December 5, 2015. Previously, the OnePlus 2 could only be purchased via an invitation that was valid for three days. On October 12, 2015, the OnePlus 2 could be bought for an hour without invitations.
Technology blogs and news portals criticized the invitation system that was already used with the predecessor, as it deterred many potential buyers and was cumbersome.
design
Visually, the OnePlus 2 differs from its predecessor, the OnePlus One , mainly through the home button, which includes a fingerprint scanner . The frame is made of aluminum , the back is made of black "sandstone" style like its predecessor and can be exchanged for various, separately available back covers, including one made of rosewood, bamboo and DuPont Kevlar . The power button and volume rocker are on the right, on the left side of the frame is a mute switch, the so-called "alert slider", which consists of 3 levels.
technology
hardware
The OnePlus 2 has a 5.5-inch Gorilla Glass- protected IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels . The system on a chip is a Snapdragon 810 with eight cores by the manufacturer Qualcomm , which to avoid heat problems at 1.8 GHz clocked down was. There is a fingerprint scanner in the smartphone , which can optionally be set as a home button. There are two versions of the OnePlus 2: The white version has 16 GB of internal storage and 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM . The Sandstone Black version with 64 GB of internal memory has 4 GB of RAM. The OP2 is dual SIM capable and has a USB Type C port. In contrast to the OnePlus One, which was sold as one model worldwide, different models of the OP2 are sold in different regions. As a result, due to different LTE standards , LTE can only be used in the region where it was purchased. Missing functions such as NFC and fast charging, which are supported by competing products such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 or LG G4 , were discussed in the media. The 3,300 mAh lithium polymer battery is permanently installed and can only be changed by manually unscrewing the device. However, the manufacturer's guarantee is no longer valid.
software
The OnePlus 2 comes with OxygenOS 2.0 (based on Android 5.1.1), an Android derivative developed by OnePlus . An update to OxygenOS 3, based on Android 6.0.1, was distributed to users in May 2016.
