Otorohanga is a town in the Otorohanga District of the Waikato regionon the North Island of New Zealand . The city is the seat of the Otorohanga District Council .

geography

The city is 45 km south of Hamilton and centrally located in the middle of the district. The New Zealand State Highway 3 , the New Zealand State Highway 31 and the New Zealand State Highway 39 run through the village . The north-south connection of the North Island Main Trunk Railway , a railway line from Auckland to Wellington, also runs through the town. The passenger train that runs this line every day is called the Northern Explorer .

In the 2013 census, the town had 2514 inhabitants, 3.0% less than in the 2006 census.
