Otta is the administrative center of the municipality of Sel in the Norwegian Fylke Innlandet at the end of the Ottadals and in the upper Gudbrandsdalen . Otta received city status on August 26, 2000. The city has about 1,650 inhabitants.

Close to Otta is the Rondane massif , which became the first national park in Norway in 1962 and has some peaks over 2,000 meters. The Battle of Kringen between Norwegian and Scottish soldiers took place near Otta in 1612.

The Otta station on the Dovrebahn , opened in 1897, is a regional transfer point between train, bus and taxi.

In Otta, Riksvei 15 branches off from European route 6 to Måløy in Vågsøy .

Pop Culture

Exterior shots of the Norwegian horror film Cold Prey 2 Resurrection - Colder Than Death were also shot in Otta.
