The Ottauquechee River is a left tributary of the Connecticut River in the US state of Vermont .
The Ottauquechee River rises in the area of Town Killington in the Green Mountains . It flows in a predominantly easterly direction past Woodstock and Quechee . The US Highway 4 runs along its middle reaches. The North Branch Ottauquechee River flows into the river on the left. The Ottauquechee River flows through the Quechee Gorge . US Highway 4 runs over the Quechee Gorge Bridge at this point . Further downstream, not far from the estuary, the Ottauquechee River is dammed from the North Hartland Dam to North Hartland Lake . Finally, the Ottauquechee River flows into the Connecticut River at North Hartland , about 6 km south of White River Junction . The Ottauquechee River is 67 km long. It drains an area of 571 km².
