Location of Ottelmannshausen in Bavaria

Ottelmannshausen is a district of the municipality of Herbstadt in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld in Bavaria .

geography

The church village is located in the Lower Franconian part of Grabfeld , about 1.5 km west of Herbstadt.

history

In 800 the abbess Emhilt von Milz gave goods to the Fulda monastery in "Othelmeshus" ("near the houses of Othelm"). In 860 a "Convent against robbery" met in Ottelmannshausen. In 1058 a prince's day took place in Ottelmannshausen, which went down in history. The background to this meeting was the rivalry between the dioceses of Bamberg and Würzburg .

In 1476 there was a report of a " deserted Ottelmeshausen". The oldest part of the Dörfleshof near Ottelmannshausen, which is still in existence today, was built in 1522 and was once owned by the Henneberg monastery in Veßra . When the Counts of Henneberg died out in 1583, the stately court with Ottelmannshausen came to the Würzburg Monastery in exchange through the Schleusinger Treaty in 1586 and became part of the Königshofen office. From 1500 the place was in the Franconian Empire . In 1608 it was reported: "Ottelmannshausen or S. Laurentzenberg was previously a desert."

In 1803 the place was secularized in favor of Bavaria, then in the Peace of Preßburg 1805 left to Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg , with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814 . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

In 1956 a “house of the farmer's wife” was built. On January 1, 1978 Ottelmannshausen was incorporated into the municipality of Herbstadt.
