Otto Brennecke

Otto Brennecke (born October 29, 1882 in Groß Mahner ; † October 3, 1936 in Hanover ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and trade unionist .

Life

Brennecke, a tailor by trade , joined the SPD in November 1905. From April 1910 he was managing director of the association of tailors, dressmakers and linen workers , from 1918 Gauleiter Braunschweig of this union, which from 1920 was called the German clothing workers' association . From 1927 to 1933 he was ADGB District Secretary Braunschweig-Hannover. Brennecke was also a member of the ADGB federal committee. From 1929 to 1932 he was also a member of the Provincial Parliament of Hanover. After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, Brennecke joined the resistance group Socialist Front .

Brennecke died on October 3, 1936. The Neue Vorwärts reported that Brennecke was mistreated during an action against social democrats and trade unionists and died as a result. According to his daughter Hildegard, who was married to the trade unionist Albin Karl , Brennecke actually died of a heart attack at the news of his imminent arrest.
