Otto Cartellieri

Otto Ernst Wilhelm Cartellieri (born January 23, 1872 in Odessa , † April 13, 1930 in Basel ) was a German historian and archivist .

Alexander Cartellieri's brother was a student of Paul Scheffer-Boichorst , with whom he received his doctorate in Berlin in 1897 with a dissertation on Abbot Suger von Saint-Denis (the design for this received the royal prize from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Berlin in 1896). From 1898 to 1904 he worked for the Monumenta Germaniae Historica and as such was entrusted with preparatory work for the publication of Italian chronicles of the 13th century. In 1904 he completed his habilitation at the University of Heidelberg . From 1910 he worked there as an associate professor for medieval and modern history. He then worked briefly at the Heidelberg University Library (from 1922), then from 1924 as an archivist at the General State Archives in Karlsruhe . His estate is under the signature Heid. Hs. 2851–2872 in the Heidelberg University Library.
