Otto Friedrich von Schack (Lieutenant General)

Otto Friedrich von Schack (* 1668 ; † November 1, 1751 in Mechelen ) was a Dutch lieutenant general and most recently the commander of the entire cavalry of the United Netherlands .

origin

He came from the Pomeranian line of the noble von Schack family . His parents were the heir to Prillwitz , Franz Valentin von Schack († 1702) and his wife Ilsabe Sophia von Beneckendorf (* around 1638; † 1683).

Life

Schack went into Dutch service and in 1688 came as a cadet in the regiment of his cousin, later Major General Bogislav Sigmund von Schack . The regiment went to Ireland on behalf of William of Orange . There he fought in the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 and was then promoted to cornet.

On August 6, 1693 he became lieutenant captain, on July 10, 1694 Rittmeister and on August 11, 1702 he received his own company. On January 22, 1712 he became major, on November 14, 1727 colonel and on July 16, 1728 colonel effective . His appointment as major general took place on January 1, 1742. In May 1747 he was commander of the entire cavalry of the United Netherlands and on January 1, 1748 promoted to lieutenant general.

He died on November 1st, 1751 at the Mechelen castle.

Marriage and offspring

He married in 1712 Levine Rebekah of Wintzingerode , daughter of Kurmainzer Major General Wasmuth Levin of Wintzingerode . The couple had four daughters and two sons, including Otto Wilhelm Christian von Schack (* 1731; † 1781), who was the Prussian colonel and regimental commander.
