Otto Frommel (* 1835 in Karlsruhe ; † August 1861 in Lichtenthal ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Otto Frommel was the youngest of three sons of the Karlsruhe landscape painter and gallery director Carl Ludwig Frommel from his second marriage to Jeanne Henriette Gambs (1801–1865) from Strasbourg, a daughter of the Protestant theologian Christian Carl Gambs . His cousin and adoptive brother was the painter Karl Lindemann-Frommel , his biological brothers were the Protestant theologians Emil and Max Frommel . Otto Frommel became a private student of the landscape painter Johann Wilhelm Schirmer in Düsseldorf .
