Otto Kahler (politician)

Otto Kahler (born August 9, 1920 in Marktredwitz ; † March 30, 2008 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Kahler began to work as a teacher in 1946, mainly at elementary schools, part-time also at secondary schools and vocational schools, but mainly in Marktredwitz. He did the pedagogical professional training and at the same time a music pedagogical exam in Berlin and youth care exam in Bavaria. For years he headed a district youth association and a youth education center as well as the district youth association in Upper Franconia . From 1961 to 1964 he was full-time managing director of the main board of the education and science trade union in Frankfurt am Main and, at the same time, a member of several committees of the federal board of the German trade union federation in Düsseldorf. He was also a member of the youth welfare committee, was a representative of the city of Marktredwitz in the foundation board of trustees for the Egerland cultural center and a permanent employee at the Evangelical Lutheran Adult Education Center in Alexandersbad in the industrial youth work. In 1966 Kahler became chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the city council, and in 1972 he was elected to the district assembly of the Wunsiedel district. In the state elections in 1970 he won the direct mandate in the constituency association of Marktredwitz , Selb , Rehau , Wunsiedel and thus moved into the Bavarian state parliament . In 1974 he was elected from the constituency list and was a member of the state parliament until 1978.
