Otto Locher

Otto Locher (born April 9, 1910 in Hasle near Burgdorf ; † March 13, 1985 in Tonisbach, a district of the Konolfingen municipality , reformed , resident in Hasle) was a Swiss politician (BGB) and writer .

Life

Otto Locher was born on April 9, 1910 in Hasle near Burgdorf as the son of the farmer Arnold Locher. Locher, a farmer by profession like his father, received his training at the Schwand agricultural school in Münsingen .

In addition, in 1956 he was a founding member and managing director of the Bernese and 1959 of the Swiss tenants' association. For this purpose he founded the organ of the Swiss tenants' association "Das Landvolk" and worked between 1961 and 1977 as its editor . Otto Locher, who wrote numerous articles for the interests of tenants and agriculture in general, pointed out the dangers of industrial agriculture early on . Together with his family he founded the Rural Solidarity Fund.

In addition, Otto Locher appeared as the author of several novels on topics from the rural world.

Otto Locher was married to Rosa, the daughter of the farmer Ernst Locher. He died on March 13, 1985, four weeks before his 75th birthday in Tonisbach.

Political offices

As a member of the farmers, trade and citizens' party, Otto Locher was a member of Hasle's municipal council near Burgdorf. He also represented his party in the Bern Grand Council from 1942 to 1944 and in the National Council from 1969 to 1971 .

Honor
