Otto Schärrer (born July 26, 1877 in Schaffhausen ; † August 22, 1938 there ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician ( FDP ).

biography

Schärrer passed the Matura examination in 1897 and began studying law in Munich in the winter semester of 1897/98 , which he later continued in Zurich , Berlin and Leipzig . In Zurich he was a member of the Corps Tigurinia . 1906 doctorate he in Bern Dr. jur. He became an auditor at the Zurich District Court , was then authorized signatory of the Tiefenbrunnen Brewery and, most recently, Associate District Attorney.

In 1913 Schärrer returned to his home town of Schaffhausen, where he was office secretary in 1914 and from 1915 to 1928 as state clerk for the canton of Schaffhausen . From 1918 to 1928 he was also a council clerk (secretary of the Grand Council ). In 1928 he was elected to the government council and held this office until his death. Initially he was responsible for the police department, later for education, military and commercial affairs. In 1933 and 1937 he was President of the Government Council. He died in August 1938 and was buried in the forest cemetery in Schaffhausen
