Otto Suhner

Otto Suhner (born October 8, 1866 in Herisau ; † January 20, 1941 in Zurich ; resident in Urnäsch ) was a Swiss entrepreneur from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Otto Suhner was the son of Gottlieb Suhner and Johanna Signer. He was the brother of Bertold Suhner . In 1893 he married Bertha Hörler, daughter of Johann Ulrich Hörler.

In 1890 he made his diploma as a mechanical engineer at the Technical University of Munich . From 1898 Suhner ran a factory for insulated wires in Brugg . This was founded by his father in 1896. The independent company from 1906 under the name Suhner & Co. ran into financial difficulties. In 1908 the company was converted into the Aktiengesellschaft Kabelwerke Brugg AG , in which not only Suhner but also competitors took part. Suhner founded Otto Suhner AG in 1914, which manufactured flexible shafts . In 1928 he opened a branch in Bad Säckingen . In 1939 the company was taken over by his son Willy Suhner. His son Otto Suhner then joined the company in 1972. The company Suhner Holding, founded in 1973, comprised six product divisions as well as production facilities in Europe , the USA and India in 2011 .
