Otto Waldstein

Otto Waldstein (born December 9, 1878 in Vienna ; † July 28, 1936 there ) was an Austrian optician, president of the Austrian opticians' association, councilor of the Chamber of Commerce, councilor of commerce and purveyor to the court . and from 1902 owner of the Simon Waldstein company . He was of Jewish faith.

Life

Otto Waldstein was born to the married couple Simon Waldstein (1837-1902) and Hermine, nee Seligmann (1841-1900), and had an older brother and an older sister.

After graduating from high school, he studied at the University of Vienna in 1904, broke off his studies and devoted himself to his father's company and married Johanna (Hansi) Künath. From this marriage, their son Fritz Waldstein (1905–1973) was called out.

On the recommendation of Eduard Ameseder , Karl Friedrich Gsur and Reinhold Kukla , he became a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien on October 28, 1924 .

In 1932 he was awarded the Wilhelm Exner Medal .

On February 10, 1906 he received under Xr. 181029. KL 42 a patent for a twilight telescope .
