chronology
- Ougenweide All because I like

Ougenweide is the first studio album by the German folk rock band of the same name .

It was first published in 1973 by Zebra and later by Polydor ; In 2006 the album was re-released on Bear Family Records .

General

ougenweide is Middle High German and means something like particularly beautiful sight . The term is taken from a text by Neidhart von Reuental , which was set to music as track 6 on this album.

The work produced by Achim Reichel is unique in that it is the first time a band has dared to interpret medieval texts and pieces of music in German-speaking countries. It is also the first really successful German folk rock album ever. Although the music has not yet reached the quality of the later albums, you can still recognize the role models of this band in it: The fox sounds a lot like a cover of a song by Fairport Convention , and in the flute sounds of Swa gouter hande wurzen sint you believe Ian Anderson . On the other hand, The Seamstan's Son seems to be an anticipation of the last two studio albums recorded at Polydor.

Others

  • The album was recorded and mixed in the studio in just a week.
  • Statement on the location of the whole Musica is actually a statement. Olaf Casalich recites this passage from the 1511 published Instrument tuition Musica getutscht of Sebastian Virdung in which this about the new emerging at this time timpani complained.
  • It is quite common for two labels to appear when a first work is released. It is unusual that the CD version was initially released with the original cover and then pressed again a little later by the same label under the cover of the Ougenweide song book edition . However, only the version released by Bear Family Records in 2006 was successful .
