Wendelin Enders

Wendelin Enders (born October 20, 1922 in Langenberg ; † April 23, 2019 in Petersberg ) was a German educator and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Enders was drafted into the Wehrmacht . From 1941 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was last promoted to lieutenant in the reserve. From autumn 1945 Enders studied geography, biology and history at the University of Göttingen and later completed his studies in Marburg with the "state examination for higher teaching posts" and a doctorate to become a Dr. phil. from. He entered the school service and had been a senior teacher at the Pedagogical Institute in Fulda since 1963 .

In 1964 he joined the SPD and became a community representative in Petersberg. Enders was a council member of the Petersberg community . He was a member of the German Bundestag from May 9, 1967, when he replaced Edwin Zerbe , who had left the Bundestag , until 1987. He was first drawn into the Bundestag via the state list of Hesse , represented the constituency of Hersfeld from 1969 to 1983 and was again a member of the list from 1983 to 1987.

From the 1970s, Wendelin Enders represented the Federal Republic in the Council of Europe and in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Western European Union (WEU).
