Edwin Zerbe

Edwin Kurt Bringfried Zerbe (born August 22, 1916 in Wiesbaden-Rambach , † October 13, 1992 in Hanover ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Wiesbaden in 1935 , Zerbe began studying law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , which he interrupted in 1936 to be able to do Reich labor service. He then joined the Wehrmacht . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , was appointed captain in 1942 and served as a department commander. At the end of the war he was captured by the Americans, from which he was released in 1946.

After his release from captivity, Zerbe continued his studies, which he completed in 1948 with the first state examination and in 1951 with the second state examination. He then entered the Hessian civil service, initially working as a legal advisor to the district president in Wiesbaden and from 1951 to 1955 as a consultant for the Hessian universities and colleges at the Ministry of Culture in Wiesbaden. Since 1970 he worked as a lawyer. He was also a member of the Synod of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck since 1960 .

Political party

On May 1, 1935, Zerbe joined the NSDAP . He was also a member of the SA .

Zerbe joined the SPD in 1945, was deputy chairman of the SPD district association of Wiesbaden from 1948 to 1954 and was elected chairman of the SPD sub-district Hersfeld in 1958 .

MP

Zerbe was a council member of the city of Wiesbaden from 1948 to 1955. He was later elected to the district assembly of the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, where he served as district assembly chairman from 1972 to 1986. From 1958 to November 23, 1965 and from 1970 to 1978 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament . In the 1965 Bundestag election he was elected to the German Bundestag , to which he belonged until his resignation on May 2, 1967. In parliament he represented the constituency of Hersfeld .

Public offices

Zerbe held office from 1955 to 1970 as district administrator for the Hersfeld district . Then he was first district councilor of the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district until 1972.
