Arabs, Bedouins and Fraudsters (Original title: Outlaws of the Desert ) is a western from American production, the fortieth film in the Hopalong Cassidy series and also the penultimate for Paramount Pictures , before United Artists produced further films in 1942 . The German-language premiere was on December 18, 1951.
action
Hopalong Cassidy is supposed to buy horses on behalf of the government; To do this, he goes with his two companions California and Johnny to the Arabian Peninsula, where he finds out that the gangsters and backers there differ only in their clothing from those in the American West. So they are imprisoned by Sheik Suleiman. Hopalong not only has to free himself, but also two women who are in danger.
criticism
The lexicon of the international film suspects, " An acute shortage of material led to this surprising change of scene in the naive western series." Joe Hembus saw this change of location more positively: "A very funny proof that the Hopalong-Cassidy authors never ran out of imagination."
Remarks
The Hopalong Cassidy film series was based on the characters devised by Clarence E. Mulford . The Arabia of the film is in Chatsworth (California) .
