Outrage is a German thrash metal band from Pforzheim , which was founded in 1983, disbanded in 1988 and has been active again since 2004.

history

The band was founded on May 7, 1983 in Pforzheim after the guitarist Udo “The Bringer of Doom” after work and the singer Frank “The Voice of Hell” Pfeiffer had met a few times before. After work wrote the first songs and gave the project the name Outrage. After a few advertisements in local newspapers, Andreas Eisenmann joined the band as a drummer in July 1983. In October 1984 the band began with the first rehearsals before Roland Sen joined the band as bassist in January 1985. The group recorded a first demo in September, followed by a second in December. In 1986 Sen left the band, whereupon after work on the demo From Nightmares and Myths also played the bass. Sen was killed in a car accident a few years later. After Reini Wörner joined the band as the new bass player in February 1987, the next demo was recorded in July under the name The Book of the Seven Seals . In January 1988 the band played as the opening act for Darkness , which was to be the last gig of the 1980s for Outrage. Eisenmann, Pfeiffer and Feierabend were in the Bundeswehr , whereupon the group announced its dissolution in July 1988.

In March 2004 the band was re-founded after work ended after meeting bass player Kevin Lukitsch and they decided to revive the band. Later the drummer Alex Güntner joined the cast, before Pfeiffer returned as a singer on April 20. In October 2004 the debut album Back for Attack was released , which contains old song material. The only new song is the theme song. This was followed by various appearances with local bands in the Pforzheim area. In addition, the band played concerts further away together with Warhammer and Goddess of Desire . In June 2005, the next album appeared A Mute Reminder , made up of both new and partly consisted of old material. 2006 followed by another album under the name 7 Is 1 Take One and the EP Tales of Counted Sorrows . On the latter, Volker "Iron Lung" Frerich from Warhammer could be heard as a guest singer in the song Killer . Before recording the EP, bassist Lukitsch left the band in May 2006. Johannes E. joined the band as a replacement. However, he was not yet ready for the new songs, which is why Mark B. was hired for the recordings. Johannes E. was again replaced by Stefan L. in December. In 2007 the group performed with Warhammer, Minotaur , Decision of Hate , Nefarious, Delirium Tremens , Nocturnal , Hellish Crossfire and Hatchery . Then the band began rehearsing for the next album, before singer Pfeiffer left the band in January 2008. The Nefarious singer Frank Schäufele came to replace the cast. On May 7th, 2008 the band celebrated their 25th anniversary. At that time the anniversary album Order in the Court and the DVD Arrival at 7.11 were released , which contained studio recordings, excerpts from various concerts, and a bonus CD with two previously unreleased songs. In addition, the fanzine- like book OUTRAGE - The Complete Story was published . In the same year the group also played concerts with Warhammer and Decision of Hate. In November of the same year the drummer Güntner left the band, who was replaced a month later by Yannick "The Holder of Chaos" Argast. In September 2009 Mario S. joined the line-up as a further guitarist.

In October 2010 the sixth album Conspirator was released , which the band had actually planned as the last album. In December they planned to break up the band because many members were no longer very interested in the project. But after work and Pfeiffer planned to continue playing the old songs under a new name. The supposed last concert took place on February 26, 2011, at which Pfeiffer also sang in a few songs. Before the performance, however, Metal on Metal Records had contacted the band and licensed all albums previously released. On the morning of the concert day, the label sent the band a contract offer, which they accepted. Singer Pfeiffer came back to the band, which now consisted of after work and argast alongside him. In February 2011, Torsten “The Bringer of Doom” Moning joined the line-up as bass player. Then the group started rehearsing. The band decided to re-record some songs from their early days and release them as the album Go to Hell , named after the first song of their first demo from 1985. The album was released on October 28, 2011. The phonogram was released on the same day Go To Hell - Demo (s) s - 1985-1987 , a compilation of original recordings from the early days. The compilation was released by the Metal-on-Metal Records sub-label RAW Metal Records and was limited to only 20 pieces. The release concert for the studio album took place on October 29th in Pforzheim. On November 21, the bassist Moning had to leave the band, who was replaced on February 27, 2012 by Raffaele "Raffa" "The Fall of Wisdom" Giordano. In 2014 the album We the Dead was released .

style

According to the band biography on outrage-band.tumblr.com , the band was influenced by groups like Hellhammer , Celtic Frost , Metallica , Slayer and Venom . The band felt part of the first wave of Black Metal . Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard described We the Dead as a mixture of old Sodom and Iron Angel . In addition, parallels to Celtic Frost can be heard. In an interview with Schilling, the guitarist after work stated that the lyrics are "about everyday situations, things in life, our subconscious, mythology and pranks on our imagination". In Schilling's review of the album We the Dead one issue earlier, he wrote that the first riff of the first song reminded him of Slayer and the vocals sounded like Tom Angelripper's even more aggressive back then in his early years. The song Kill Snow White sounds like Celtic Frost in the days of To mega therion . Celebration evening riffs would Schilling Frank Blackfire the time of Agent Orange remember.
