Oyo is a small town in the Cuvette department in the center of the Republic of the Congo with just under 15,000 inhabitants.
geography
The place is in the south of the department on the border with the department Plateaux , which is often crossed here by the Alima tributary of the Congo . It is located about 400 kilometers north of Brazzaville in the immediate vicinity of Edou , the birthplace of President Denis Sassou-Nguesso .
traffic
The N2 national road , which connects Brazzaville with Ouésso in the north of the Republic of the Congo, runs through the town . The airport Oyo Ollombo Airport ( IATA airport code : OLL) was ECAir operated from Brazzaville.
Others
The population largely belongs to the Mboschi ethnic group .
In August 2019 there were reports of significant oil deposits.
Oyo has been partnered with Yangzhou , Huadong, People's Republic of China since 2015 .
The local sports club AS Otoho Oyo reached the group stage in the CAF Confederation Cup 2018/19 .
