The CAF Confederation Cup 2018/19 (also called Total CAF Confederation Cup 2018/19 for sponsorship reasons ) was the 16th season of the second most important African competition for club teams in football under this name. The season began with the preliminary round on November 27, 2018 and ended with the finals in May 2019. The defending champion was the Moroccan club Raja Casablanca .

The winner for the first time was the Egyptian club al Zamalek SC , who prevailed in the final after an overall result of 1-1 with 5-3 on penalties against RS Berkane . He qualified for the CAF Super Cup against the winners of the Champions League 2018/19 .

1Due to the uneven number of teams for the play-off round, the best team in the CAF five-year ranking went straight to the group stage.

Play-off round

The draw took place on December 28, 2018. A winner of the first round was drawn against a loser in the first round of the Champions League , whereby the clubs of the CAF Confederation Cup had reached home in the second leg. The first legs were played from January 11 to 13, the second legs from January 18 to 20, 2019.

Group stage

The group draw took place on January 21, 2019 in the Egyptian capital Cairo . The 16 teams were divided into four pots and drawn into four groups of four teams each. The teams were seeded according to their results in the CAF competitions of the last five seasons ( CAF five-year ranking ). The group winners and runners-up qualified for the quarter-finals, while those placed third and fourth were eliminated from the competition. If two or more teams were tied, the placement was determined by the following criteria:

  1. Number of points in direct comparison
  2. Goal difference in direct comparison
  3. Number of goals in direct comparison
  4. Number of away goals in direct comparison
  5. If, after applying criteria 1 to 4, there are still several teams in the same place in the table, criteria 1 to 4 are reapplied, but only to the matches between the teams in question. Should this also not lead to a definitive placement, criteria 6 to 9 will be applied.
  6. Goal difference from all group matches
  7. Number of goals in all group matches
  8. Number of away goals in all group matches
