Párbeszéd Magyarországért ( Párbeszéd , German dialogue for Hungary, dialogue ) is a green political party in Hungary . It emerged in 2013 as a split from the LMP and took part in the parliamentary elections for the first time the following year as part of the left-wing electoral alliance " Összefogás 2014 " . The PM is currently represented by one member each in the Hungarian and European Parliament.

history

The party emerged from a group within the green party Lehet Más a Politika (LMP), which was also called Párbeszéd Magyarország . Before the parliamentary elections in 2014 , the center-left alliance Together 2014 was formed , which, with former Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai as the top candidate, aimed to replace the Fidesz government. However, within the LMP it was disputed whether one should join this alliance. Párbeszéd Magyarországért therefore separated from the LMP at the party congress on January 26, 2013, at which all requests to start negotiations on electoral alliances were rejected . In total, eight of the 15 parliamentarians and around 130 members left the LMP. Plans to continue the group after the split also failed.

The former LMP parliamentary group leader Benedek Jávor took over the chairmanship of the new party together with Tímea Szabó . For the parliamentary election, the PM concluded the alliance “Együtt 2014 - Párbeszéd Magyarországért” (Together 2014 - Dialogue for Hungary) with the center-left alliance Together 2014 . And together with the Hungarian Socialist Party , the Democratic Coalition and the Liberal Party, they formed the left-wing electoral alliance “ Összefogás 2014 ”. In the alliance, Together 2014 - Dialogue for Hungary presented 22 of the 106 direct candidates; three MPs, one of whom tapped the PM candidate, entered the Hungarian parliament. However, "Összefogás 2014" dissolved just a few days after the election.

The amalgamation of PM with Together in 2014 remained, however. In this constellation, the parties achieved 7.25% of the vote in the 2014 European elections ; Benedek Jávor thus made it into parliament at first place on the list.

In August 2016, the party decided to run for the 2018 parliamentary elections with the shortened name Párbeszéd ("Dialog").
