The Magyar Liberális Párt ( MLP ) ( German Hungarian Liberal Party ), also Liberálisok (Liberale, spelling : LiBERALISOK ) is a Hungarian party

history

The MLP was founded in 2013 by the former Fidesz and SZDSZ party member , Gábor Fodor . Fodor had already announced in January 2013 that he intended to found his own party. He wanted to create a "more liberal and more personal [...]" party. The MLP is a liberal party. It has most of its party members in Budapest, but the Liberals are also organized in other cities, and it is represented in a total of 74 constituencies. In 2014 she became a member of the left-wing electoral alliance " Összefogás 2014 ", whose goal was a change of government in the 2014 parliamentary elections , but this failed. However, Gábor Fodor managed to win a seat in parliament.

The party announced in April 2014 that it would not take part in the 2014 European elections due to financial difficulties . Since December 2015 she has been a member of the European party Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe .

Since the parliamentary elections in 2018, the party has been represented in the Hungarian parliament by MP Anett Bősz. Bősz played an important role during the demonstrations in Budapest in December 2018, including occupying the state radio building together with other MPs.
