history
History of the Parnas
The party of people's freedom "For a Russia without arbitrariness and corruption" (abbreviated to PARNAS; Russian Партия народной свободы "За Россию без произвола и коррупции") was founded in December 2010 and intended to officially register for the upcoming federal elections. however, it was rejected on June 22, 2011. The only parties in Russia that have been newly admitted since 2002 are the Patriots of Russia , the Just Russia Party and the Right Cause , which, according to some observers, all belong to the “puppet opposition” or - as in the case of the Right Cause - from the Russian politician and billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov as a “puppet project of the Kremlin ”.
Merger to form the RPR-Parnas party
After the party of Vladimir Ryzhkov, which was founded in 1990 as the Republican Party of the Russian Federation , was renamed the Republican Party of Russia in 2002 and was forcibly dissolved in 2007, successfully presented to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg that its dissolution was illegal, the Russian Ministry of Justice registered the RPR restored in 2012. In the meantime, however, the RPR had become obsolete through the establishment of Parnas ; but in order to take advantage of the now existing party registration, the leadership of Parnas decided to unite with the RPR. The first party congress of the new united party took place on June 16, 2012. The party was named RPR-Parnas. The question of the exact membership base (question of the former members of RPR) is still unresolved; however, the new party has at least 47,500 members - number of members of Parnas.
Regional elections in September 2015
According to the NZZ, the Kostroma region was the only one of 11 regions where the party was allowed to take part in the elections. After a dirty campaign in which their candidates were described as foreign-controlled agents and, according to Kremlin critics, “numerous rule violations”, the party failed with the candidate Ilya Yashin at the five percent hurdle .
