Pöring is a clearing settlement that emerged in the 6th or 7th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, row graves from the 5th to 8th centuries were found in Ingelsberg, which suggests an even older settlement. The finds are lost, however. In the 10th century, Pöring, like the neighboring Zorneding, belonged to Count Eberhard von Ebersberg . “Ingoltesperch” (settlement on the mountain of an Ingolt) is first mentioned in the Falkensteiner Codex from 1156 and “Wolfizzingen” in the Herzogurbar from 1269. Around 1180 the Pöringers are mentioned for the first time, a noble family who had their seat in the castle in the village . This was burned down by the Swedes in 1632 . In their place a castle was built in 1661, which served as a noble residence until around 1830. Today there is only a castle stable from the castle .

From 1696 the St. George's Church in Pöring was built in place of the old Gothic church. In 1750 the main team Wolfesing was incorporated into the main team Pöring. With the incorporation of Ingelsberg in 1815, Pöring became an independent municipality. In 1835 48 families lived in the community of Pöring. The Ingelsberg chapel was built in 1868/69, in 1876 the Pöring volunteer fire brigade was founded and in 1893 the first maypole was erected in Pöring. In 1894, Pöring and Ingelsberg were connected to the Zornedingen water supply network. In 1909 the first school was built in Pöring, followed by a new building in 1964.

During the Nazi dictatorship , the mayor Zornedings, an SA storm leader , tried to get Pöring incorporated. To prevent this, the entire Pöring municipal council joined the NSDAP as a whole . In fact, the independence could be preserved for the time being. In 1973, however, plans to dissolve the municipality of Pöring became known again, which again resulted in broad resistance. It was feared that the 2200 Pöringers could be underrepresented in the common community compared to the 5000 Zornedingern. There was also concern about Zorneding's high debt burden. A citizens' initiative against the dissolution of the community was founded in Pöring. At the last citizens' meeting, 95% of the citizens voted for their independence, with a turnout of 80%. The resistance was unsuccessful. On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Pöring was dissolved with the Bavarian regional reform and its main part was combined with Zorneding to form one municipality. The district of Baldham-Kolonie was given to the neighboring municipality of Parsdorf , today's municipality of Vaterstetten. The last mayor of Pöring, Georg Wimmer, represented his old community in Zorneding's council from this point in time.
