Pötzen is a district of the city of Hessisch Oldendorf in the Weser Uplands in the Hameln-Pyrmont district and is located directly on the Süntel . Together with the districts of Bensen , Haddessen and Höfingen, it also forms the village named after the Süntel.

history

In October 1948, elementary school teacher Martin Beer registered 616 residents in Pötzen, of whom 305 were locals and 311 were refugees and evacuees. They lived in 64 houses. Today around 540 people live in 130 houses. In the school year 1949/50, 90 children attended the local eight-grade elementary school , initially teacher Beer was alone, after the start of the school year teacher Schmöe joined them. After the currency reform on June 20, 1948 and the abolition of the food stamps , living conditions had become much better, at least according to the terminology that was valid at the time.

In addition to work, more and more leisure needs came to the fore, for which there were already various options: stopping at the two restaurants in the village without any organization, maintaining singing in the men's choir and the women's choir, serving in the volunteer fire department or in 1950 founded Musikzug to afford handball or football in gymnastics and sports club Süntel to play and since 1953 - the British occupying power had the force since the war weapons ban lifted for Germany - with air rifle and small bore rifle -Gewehr in shooting club shooting.

In 1974 the fanfare parade of the Pötzen shooting club initiated a harvest festival for the first time . Thanks to a donation from the city of Hessisch Oldendorf of 35 DM, the first joint harvest festival of the villages of Pötzen and Haddessen was prepared and carried out together in the following year . The festival is still an integral part of how both villages live together.
