Barksen is a district of Hessisch Oldendorf in the Hameln-Pyrmont district in Lower Saxony . The village is located about 1 km northeast of Hessisch Oldendorf at the foot of the Mittelberg (297.0 m) and borders directly on the forests of the Hessisch Oldendorfer Wesertal / Nord conservation area. Barksen is first mentioned in a document in 1244.
