Bensen is a district of the city of Hessisch Oldendorf in the Weser Uplands in the Hameln-Pyrmont district .
geography
Bensen is located directly on the Süntel and is 6.8 km from the center of Hessisch Oldendorf (train station) and 11.4 km from the district town of Hameln . Together with the districts of Haddessen, Höfingen and Pötzen , it also forms the village named after the Süntel.
history
Clearance and settlement of the area probably go back to the early Middle Ages. The written tradition begins with the year 955. A Manse zu Benneshusun (Benno's house) was part of Otto I's founding equipment for Fischbeck Abbey . In 1244, Countess Adelheid donated two Bennenhusen farms to her daughter of the same name, the wife of Count Ludwig .
In 1957 the new school building was put into operation. The cemetery chapel was consecrated in 1972. The school was closed in 1976, since then the building has been used as a village community center.
In 1964 (5th place), 1968 (4th place) and 1991 Bensen took part in the competition Our village should become more beautiful .

Club life
The men's choir was founded in 1898. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1927.
