Pırlanta (tr. For: "Diamond" ) is Demet Akalın's ninth studio album . It is named after the song of the same name and was released on June 19, 2015. The previous album Rekor was released by the record company Seyhan Müzik, Akalın then canceled her contract and then switched to the Doğan Music Company label.
The lead single Ders Olsun was released for the first time on June 19, 2015 and reached number 2 in the Turkish top 20 charts. The four singles Gölge , Beş Yıl , Pırlanta and Çalkala were able to achieve higher positions in various Turkish radio charts.
Demet Akalın received numerous awards and prizes for the album, including an Altın Kelebek for the song Pırlanta . She was also awarded a gold record. With 105,000 units sold, Pırlanta is one of the most successful albums in Turkey.
Music genre
The album contains a variety of musical genres and style elements, including pop , electronic , dance-pop and house. The lead single Ders Olsun was produced by Sinan Akçıl and Volga Tamöz and has elements of pop music. The second song Gölge contains influences from pop music and electronic music. The tracks Şerefime Namusuma , Özüme Döndüm and Beş Yıl were composed as complete pop songs by Soner Sarıkabadayı, Gökhan Özen, Erdem Kınay and Berkay. The single Çalkala , produced by Aslıszen, Elif Nun İçelli and Burak Yeter , offers elements of pop, electro and house.
Singles
- Der Olsun
The lead single Ders Olsun (tr. For: "It will be a teaching for you" ) was released on June 19, 2015 as the first of a total of six single releases. The song reached number 2 in the Turkish top 20 charts. Songwriter and singer Sinan Akçıl and producer Volga Tamöz were involved in the production.
- Gölge
The second release Gölge (tr. For "shadow" ) was published about a month later on July 21st. In contrast to its predecessor single, it did not reach the top 20 charts, but was able to achieve high placements on numerous radio stations, including Alem FM and Best FM . The music and lyrics are by Erdem Kınay; Elif Nun İçelli was responsible for the arrangement.
- Çalkala
With Çalkala (tr. For: "Move" ), the third single from the album followed on October 17, 2015. Like the song Gölge , Çalkala was also able to reach top positions on some radio stations, including number 1 on Alem FM, Best FM and Kral Pop TV Top 20. Overall, the single was ranked in the charts on 21 radio stations.
The songwriters and producers Aslızen and Elif Nun İçelli were involved in the production of the song. The music was played by producer Burak Yeter . The music video was shot under the direction of Müjdat Küpsi over a period of around sixteen hours and published on the video platform YouTube on the same day .
- Beş Yıl
Beş Yıl (also 5 Yıl , tr. For: "Five Years" ) was released on December 31, 2015. It is the fourth release of the album and was created in a duet with the singer Berkay . The song reached number 1 on the station TTNET Müzik as well as number 8 on Funx Turkse and 14th place in the top 20 charts of Radiyo Mega .
The music video was shot under the direction of Sedat Doğan in the fishing village of Garipçe near Istanbul . Akalın and Berkay embody a married couple. It was shot within two days and posted on YouTube on December 31, 2015.
- Pırlanta
The song Pırlanta (tr. For: "Diamond" ) is the fifth single and was released on May 16, 2016. Like her predecessor single Beş Yıl, it reached high chart positions on numerous radio stations, such as number 2 in Number One TV's top 20 charts . The two producers Gökhan Şahin and İrfan Özata worked on the production of the song. The video was directed by Tamer Aydoğan. The clip was released on May 16, 2016 on the YouTube platform.
- Şerefime Namusuma
The sixth and final release was Şerefime Namusuma (tr. For: "To my honor" ) on June 27, 2016. The song was the only one of the six single releases that did not reach the chart. The lyrics and music are from Soner Sarıkabadayı. Erdem Kınay was responsible for the arrangement. The music videos were directed by Tamer Aydoğan. In the clip of Şerefime Namusuma, Okan Kurt, Akalın's husband at the time, made a guest appearance. The video was released along with the song on June 27th.
