Demet Akalın (born April 23, 1972 in Gölcük ) is a Turkish singer and model .

Life

Akalın was born in Gölcük in northwestern Turkey in 1972. In 1990 she won the Miss Mayo beauty pageant and worked as a professional model in Turkey for six years . During this time she also starred in the films Sensiz Olmaz and Tele Anahtar . In 1996 she released her first album called Sebebim .

In 2010 she married Önder Bekensir, but the divorce followed in the same year, as Akalın cited a breach of trust on the part of Bekensir as the reason. He allegedly smuggled concert proceeds into his own bank account, whereupon Akalın filed for divorce and demanded compensation of ₺ 300,000.

In the fall of 2011 Demet Akalın Okan Kurt met and a wedding followed on April 23, 2012. This is Demet Akalın's date of birth and it was also her 40th birthday. They celebrated their wedding in Çiragan Castle in Istanbul .
