The steam locomotive series kkStB 160 was a freight train - Tender Locomotive series of kkStB .

As the 60 series  proved its worth, Karl Gölsdorf developed it further into a superheated steam variant. As is usual with Gölsdorf, the superheater area was rather modest, as even higher steam temperatures would have meant buying expensive lubricating oil from abroad. The other dimensions were exactly the same as those of the 60 series, but the steam pressure could be increased and the weight decreased. The external appearance of the 160s gained from the fact that Gölsdorf did without the double dome with connecting pipe of the 60 series in favor of a simple dome.

From 1909 to 1910, the kkStB added 46 of the 160 series to its inventory. The machines were supplied by the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik and the Bohemian-Moravian machine factory. With the exception of five, which were stationed in Linz and Innsbruck , all machines came to Krakow , Lemberg and Stanislau .

After the First World War , the series was assigned to the PKP as the  Ti16 and the FS as the  605 . In 1939 a machine came to MÁV as the 330.901 .

In the course of the Second World War , the Reichsbahn classified former 160s from the PKP as class 54.0.
