The fruits are 11 to 15 cm long and 8 mm in diameter. The seeds are 4 to 6 mm long.

Occurrence

The species is endemic to the central part of Madagascar .

Systematics

The species was first described in 1887 by John Gilbert Baker .

Two varieties can be distinguished within the species:

  • Pachypodium densiflorum var. Densiflorum
  • Pachypodium densiflorum var. Brevicalyx H.Perrier .

Natural hybrids are known with Pachypodium brevicaule ( Pachypodium × rauhii ) and Pachypodium horombense . In addition, a culture hybrid with Pachypodium rosulatum ( Pachypodium × hojnyi ) was grown.
