Paco Mendoza is an Argentine singer , songwriter and producer living in Germany who can be attributed to the dancehall and reggaeton styles . He became known through his work on the Raggabund and Caramelo Criminal projects .
life and career
Mendoza was born to a Peruvian mother and a Paraguayan father in Argentina and was exposed to music from childhood through his parents. He spent the first years of his life in Latin America before the family decided to move to Germany. Here he spent most of his life.
His musical development took on several influences, so Mendoza quickly came to hip-hop and reggae after starting out in punk and rock . Influenced by his brother, who was a member of the well-known formation Blumentopf , he began to write and record Spanish raggamuffin himself. Thanks to his flair for good lyrics and melodies, he quickly made a name for himself in the local scene and began to work with his brother on a dancehall project called Raggabund. With this they could show their first big successes, so they played solo supports for Seeed , Sean Paul , Shaggy , were represented at big festivals like the Summerjam in Cologne and the Chiemsee Reggae Summer and won the German Reggae Grammy 2006.
In 2004 they teamed up with the producer duo Silly Walks Movement , who had already worked successfully with Patrice and Jan Delay , to record a reggae album in Spanish - so the project Caramelo Criminal came about . They also played with this formation on large stages. B. on tour with Gentleman and Patrice and with the song “Que será” they recorded a club hit. You have also been invited by the Goethe-Institut to play several shows in Peru .
In 2007 Mendoza completed his studies in regional studies in Latin America at the University of Cologne and devoted himself entirely to music. At the City Festival on the Kölner Ringen in 2009 he performed with a band alongside Tomte and BossHoss. In his latest album he worked a. a. with DJ Vadim . At the WDR -Radiowelle Funkhaus Europa , Mendoza also works as a presenter of the program Mestizo FM .
