Paecilomyces is a genus of molds from the department of the ashes , which is closely related to the well-known genus brush mold ( Penicillium ). These mushrooms belong to the Fungi imperfecti , i.e. That is, they usually do notdevelopa main fruit form ( teleomorphs ), but only reproduce asexually through conidia . Through genetic studies, however, the genus Byssochlamys Westling as the main fruit form could be assigned tothe genus as a whole.
Paecilomyces species rarely cause infectious diseases in humans (which are treated with the antimycotics voriconazole or amphotericin B in the lipid form L-AmB ).
