Paice Ashton Lord was a British rock band that consisted of musicians Ian Paice , Tony Ashton , Jon Lord , Bernie Marsden and Paul Martinez . They released the album Malice In Wonderland in 1977 .
history
After the band Deep Purple broke up in 1976 , Jon Lord and Ian Paice looked for new musical assignments. Together with Tony Ashton, with whom Jon Lord had worked several times, they wanted to start a new band. Unlike Deep Purple, however, it should not be able to be assigned to hard rock . They tried to get more musicians via newspaper advertisement ("British Band Requires BRITISH Bass Player and Lead Guitarist for formation of new rock band by three established musicians [...]") . After a casting, they decided on bassist Paul Martinez and guitarist Bernie Marsden . In addition, a brass section and two background singers were added to the band.
After the new band had introduced themselves to the press on August 21, 1976, the recording of the album Malice in Wonderland , which was released in 1977 in Munich , began .
Paice Ashton Lord then went on an extensive tour, on which the recordings of the live album BBC Live in Concert , published in 1992, were made. 1977 began with recordings for a second album, which could only be completed to about 75%, because the band separated during its production in 1978. These recordings were released in 2001 as bonus tracks on a special edition of the Malice in Wonderland album.
